After working way too many 12 hour days, and doing 2+ hours of revisions nightly, I find myself in serious need of a diversion. Not the typical TV break or “lose myself in a book” – but serious, mind numbing diversion. So, what did I pick…?
Movies and the Oscar’s!
Let me start by telling you that I am not into the Oscar hoopla. I don’t watch the red carpet to see who’s wearing what. I don’t host big Oscar parties (though I am very tempted ‘cause any excuse for a party is a good excuse). I usually don’t even watch the awards themselves.
But, this year is different. This year the Dark Knight received 8 nominations. This year, Heath Ledger was nominated.
I have always liked Heath Ledger, enjoying his various movies and having fun watching him develop as a character actor. But Dark Knight blew me away. Watching it, I was amazed at how completely the Heath Ledger I had come to know disappeared, leaving only the character of the Joker. Amazing, I thought.
I have seen the movie a dozen times, and every time his portrayal blows me away. The SAG awards recognized his work, giving him a SAG for this movie. Hopefully the Oscar’s will do the same. I only wish he could be here to receive his accolades.
Movies are my perfect, BIG diversion…and seriously, they often serve to help combat my writer’s block – or at least that is what I like to tell myself. (See, I can justify anything).
How are you PROCRASINATING today…? I can’t wait to find out!

I think I’m going to go see Underworld today. I have two sick kids, so I might have to cancel the date with my RWA buddies.
I haven’t been able to watch Dark Knight yet. It makes me sad to even think about it.
If I can’t get away to the movie today, I guess I’ll procrastinate by reading my friends’ blogs!
