Happy Weds. Everyone! Today is the first day of school for my kidlets, with one starting her high school career and one ending her elementary school career. So, in honor of new beginnings and exciting endings, I thought I’d post some random things that have inspired me over the past few weeks:

  • WriteOnCon was FREAKING AMAZING last night. Fabulous content, funny moments and just a blast. Definitely full of INSPIRATION!
  • My contest for a signed copy of Paranormalcy is still going on. It ends tomorrow at midnight…so hurry and enter. This is truly one of the best YA books I’ve read this year, and Kiersten White, the author – one of the nicest people I’ve met this year.
  • SCBWI had some brilliant moments – some quotes from various faculty members that I just loved. Here are my favs:

“Ultimately it comes down to how good the book is” – Ginger Clark

“What you experience while you write, we’ll experience as we read” – Gennifer Choldenko

“Be patient with your ideas.” – Gail Carson Levine

“Only those who risk going too far know how far they can really go” – Gennifer Choldenko

“We write to live in the mind of another” – Rachel Vail

“Revise courageously” – Gennifer Choldenko

“Don’t let form dictate content” – Deborah Heiligman

  • The last bit of inspiration comes from an email I received from a fab author I had the privilege of dining with a few weeks ago. We were emailing, thanking each other for dinner. She mentioned, in one of the emails, my laugh. Yep, my laugh. You see – I love to laugh. Like really love to laugh. So, I laugh – a lot! I think it’s just how I approach life. Her email came during a particularly stressful week and reminded me to remember to LAUGH.

What inspires you? Can you add to my list??

Have a great day everyone. I am knee-deep in two projects – so I’ll we working – and hiding.
