Now, on to my Bookanista Shout out – the novella CINDERS by Michelle Davidson Argyle

Release Date: June 28, 2010

Basic Blurb: (from Amazon)

Cinderella’s happily-ever-after isn’t turning out the way she expected. With her fairy godmother imprisoned in the castle and a mysterious stranger haunting her dreams, Cinderella is on her own to discover true love untainted by magic.

I liked the cover.  Beautifully laid out, intriguing.

Why I liked it:

First, let me start by saying I am a die-hard Grimm fairytale kind of girl. I love the true darkness within fairy tales, not the more watered down Disney-version many of these have become. CINDERS takes the story away from most of the other stories based on Cinderella, and brings it back to its Grimm roots.

Michelle does a great job creating her world and drawing the reader in. It is well paced and makes for a one-night read.  The main character is full and well crafted. Michelle took care with the editing and book designing to give us a great first novella. I have no doubt we will be seeing a lot more from Michelle in the future.  Great job Michelle!!!

Where you can find it:

Be sure to check out the other Bookanista reviews.

And wish me luck – I am participating in a fab book event at the Barnes and Noble Ocedanside (CA) store tonight. I have to admit, I have butterfllies quickly turning into rather large birds!

What are you guys up to? Reading anything amazing???
